When we think about Spring Cleaning we attribute it to all the clutter in our house - the closets, dressers, cabinets, garage, basement, attic, etc. But what about our mind, body and soul? Spring is the perfect time to revisit our intentions and to cleanse our inner-being.
In nature, it starts slowly with the excited chirping of the birds who’ve returned from their winter havens. You start to see the flower buds popping up from the ground. And before you know it, the brown horizon now has a light green hue to it. Mother Nature wastes no time in bringing life back to her dormant state… and neither should you!
After a cold winter of long nights and short days, chilly mornings, and breezy evenings… Spring is the perfect time to clear all the clutter from our Spirit. To make space for the wonderment that is your new life.
By clearing the clutter from your heart, mind and soul, you make space for the chirping of a new friendship… the buds of a new hobby or activity… or the colorful hues of a new adventure.
Before you begin, revisit your intentions from the New Year. Do they still hold up? Are there new ones to add to the list? The space you make from your cleanse should align with your intentions.

For example - your intention is to find a tribe of like-minded women. Those who lift you up, seek-out the same adventures, enjoy the same hobbies, etc. Part of your cleanse should include clearing away the relationships that counter your plans… or don’t speak to the positivity you want in your life… or who don’t feel comfortable taking the risks you want to take.
As a 50+ Fabulous Woman, you deserve the best life possible... The good Lord knows you’ve earned it. Be brave… Be bold… And, take on your cleanse with fervor. Make room in your life for Positive Aging and make your dreams come true!

● Cleanse your mind! It’s the control tower of your being, and it sets the navigation for your path. Each day, find a quiet space and practice mindfulness. This is a simple exercise that uses deep breathing to control your thoughts and keep you focused on the present moment.
You start by sitting comfortably on a chair or on the floor. Close your eyes and notice your body relative to where you’re sitting. Now move your attention to your breathing - do not alter your breathing, just focus on it.
Focus as the breath moves in and out of your body. Focus as it enters your nostrils… travels down through to your lungs and lower abdomen. Focus as it exits your lower body back out through your lungs and through your nose.

Rinse & repeat.
Negative or unproductive thoughts may try to interfere with your cleanse. It’s okay. Just acknowledge the thoughts for what they are and send them on their way.
Learning to control your thoughts is powerful energy.
● Cleanse your body! The best way to remove toxins from your body is a good sweaty workout. You may not be at the place where you can shake your booty and sweat-it-out yet, but that is okay! Just doing some exercise to start is great. Your body releases endorphins which make us feel good.
Another place to start is to evaluate your food intake. When possible, swap out those processed meals for ones you make from scratch. After a week of no processed foods, you’d be surprised at how much better you feel… how much better you sleep… and how much better your brain thinks about the good stuff vs the bad stuff. That old saying “you are what you eat” is real!

And drink lots of water! Water helps to flush toxins… it brings moisture to your organs which helps blood flow better… and it helps skin regenerate faster.
● Cleanse your soul! There are many ways to cleanse your soul. All these methods are good because they generate goodwill. When you live in a space of generating goodwill, you just feel better about yourself and your surroundings.
● Reconnect or connect more deeply with your faith! When life gets beyond your borders of control, let go to your “Higher Power” and strap in for the ride.
● Do for others! When you volunteer, you have no time to think about your space because you are focused on someone else’s space. You have at this moment, a chance to change the life of someone else. It’s very spiritual and fulfilling.
● Advocate for others! When you advocate for others, you are giving your voice and your humanity because they can’t, or they’re limited in their reach. Advocacy is doubly powerful - First it gives you a superpower strength when you stand up for someone or something. You gain confidence… a resilience you never knew before. Second, you are empowering another person to stand just as strong and tall as you - Enabling her voice to be heard.
