Because we all need a little help from our friends, below are some tips you can try to help you break the funk and bring the junk!
#1 Forgive your imperfections! Your dreams need a place to foster and be nurtured. By removing all the junk that doesn’t serve you well, you make room for dreams to come alive.
#2 Call a Bestie! Chances are you have a friend out there in the same boat as you. Give her a call and see if she wants to be your break the funk buddy. Aside from the benefits of having an accountability partner, you get to rekindle a friendship. This alone breaks down walls and barriers for a quicker recovery.

#3 Set a pace! This isn’t a sprint to the finish line. There will be days that you just want to lie on the couch… and that’s okay. Setting a pace allows you to recover in a way that lets you rebuild your good habits and routines. These two things take time… so give yourself the time to do it right.
#4 Make a schedule! This goes hand in hand with setting a pace. You and your bestie need to write down what you’re going to do, when, where, and for how long (if applicable). Having a schedule helps to keep each other accountable… and it gives you something to look forward to.

#5 Reward progress! Changing behaviors is no small task. At every milestone, you should be rewarding the accomplishment. Milestones don’t need to be Herculean either; and, they should be adjusted as progress is made. Also, choose a reward that is an outward visible sign of achievement - like a mani-pedi. Every time you look at your nails, you are reminded of how far you’ve come.
#6 Try new things! Now that you are free from the bonds of the remote control, go out and try something new. Science shows when you try something new, you learn something about yourself… You have more courage, or talent/skill, or a higher risk threshold, or that you can learn anything. And no matter the outcome, you gain an unstoppable confidence. Life is short… Be bold, be adventurous!
