1. Think High
When our skin matures, it pulls down. From our cheekbones to our jaws, gravity shows its presence on our skin.
We can fight that by applying highlighter high on the face.
Focus on your cheekbones first. Put highlighter lower than where it can settle into your eye wrinkles, but high enough to give a shimmer.

Travel down to the bridge of your nose, adding a little bit to the very end of your nose. Then, consider putting a dab right on the cupid’s bow.
Don’t spread the highlighter across the top of the mouth, as this will emphasize lip wrinkles, but just on the focused point above your lip.
When using your highlighter, keep the idea of “up” in your mind - and add it to where the light would naturally reflect and pull the features up.

2. Keep it Creamy
Like with blush, eyeshadow, or foundation, the creamier the better.
Mature skin has a life of lines. There is no need to feel embarrassed about these lines - we all have them.
That said, there is no reason to emphasize them by using makeup that settles into the wrinkles.
Imagine spreading flour across a cracked floor. You can picture how it would settle into the cracks.
Now, think of taking peanut butter across the top of those cracks. You can see how the peanut butter would naturally coast across the top without settling into the cracks.
This is the same with our makeup. Look for a cream-based highlighter like Vibriance Makeup Simplified Illuminate.

3. Watch the Eyes
Adding a bit of highlighter to the inside of the eyes allows you to look more awake, but if it's too close to the undereye or too high on the cheekbone, you draw attention to the lines around your eyes.
When adding your highlighter, think upper cheekbones, but a little lower than you are used to.
After applying, take a second to look in the mirror. Is the highlighter in your fine lines? If so, adjust.
