7 infused water recipes you can try today.

The cold and raining days of spring are behind us and summer is in the air!   It’s time to put on the sunblock and get outside for some Vitamin D.


Before you head out for a day at the ball park… an afternoon of hiking… or just puttering in your garden – be sure to make a plan for how you’re going to stay hydrated.


We all know the science behind H2O… how it keeps our organs running and blood pumping… how it keeps our skin soft and looking fresh.


But let’s be honest… drinking 64 ounces of water a day can be a challenge.  Especially if you aren’t a fan of water and/or if you find margaritas to be much more enjoyable when three o’clock rolls around.


So what’s a 50+ Fabulous Woman to do?!?!  How about sexying up that plain water with infusions… Yaaaasss!  Why have boring when you can have DIY flavored water.  


Adding fresh fruits and vegetables to your water has all the benefits of that great H2O plus the added benefits of vitamins and nutrients.  Not to mention… you have endless combinations to choose from…  and it tastes fantastic!


Making your own flavored water doesn’t require special equipment.  All you need is a pitcher and your imagination.  

Let’s get started with the basic set up:

1.Add your fruit, vegetables and/or herbs to a glass or plastic pitcher.

2.Fill the pitcher with cold water and place it in your refrigerator.

3.Infuse your water up to 24 hours and then remove the additives.  

4.Store the infused water in your refrigerator for up to 3 days.  

5.For a fancy twist, use the water to make ice-cubes or shaved ice.

  ○  ½ cup of strawberries - stemmed and sliced

  ○  1 lime - sliced into circles

★  Honeydew, cucumber & mint:

  ○  ½ cup of honeydew melon - cut into cubes

  ○  1 cucumber - peeled and thinly sliced

  ○  10 fresh mint leaves - torn to pull out the oils

  ○  ½ cup of strawberries - stemmed and sliced

  ○  1 lime - sliced into circles

  ○  1 lemon - sliced into circles
