3 Facial Exercises For Forehead Wrinkles

“We have nothing to fear but missing our massage appointment time.” ― Franklin D. Roosevelt

Forehead wrinkles - the horizontal lines across your head and between your eyes - creep up on us like a cat to a mouse. We see them ever so slowly coming into the picture, and then suddenly, they are unmistakingly there.

At that point, we work with lotions, creams, hydration, and sleep to keep these little lines at bay.

Yet, there is one thing we don’t consider: our faces are full of muscles.

These muscles hold tension and need to exercise the same as any other muscle in our bodies. However, the method of exercise we do with our foreheads is through targeted massage.

No need to panic about a heavy spa bill - this massage is one you can do in the comfort of your home, watching TV or chatting with friends.

1. Prepare the face

Just like stretching our arms and legs before a workout, we must prep our faces.

Place four fingers from each hand on the middle of your forehead.

Your pointer fingers will be near the top of your head, with your pinkies toward the start of your nose.

With light to medium pressure, make small circular motions as you work both hands out and down toward your temples. Repeat three times.

Feel the tension in your forehead release as you prepare your muscles for the next steps.

2. Focus on forehead lines

Depending on how deep your forehead lines are, there are two different methods for massaging your muscles.

Faint parallel lines on the forehead require a light to medium touch.

Start with one hand - place your fingers on the side of your forehead, by your hairline. Hold your skin taut.

Then, using three fingers on your opposite hand, make a zigzag pattern toward the center of your forehead.

When you reach the center, switch sides and follow the same instructions.

3. Deep Wrinkles

Use two fingers and pull open your skin - keeping one finger at the top of your hairline and the other at the bottom by your eyebrow.

Then, holding the skin taut, make a zigzag pattern with two fingers on your other hand.

As you work in small sections, move your fingers, keeping your skin tight.

4. Erase your 11s

The two parallel lines on your forehead between your eyes are called your 11s.

These little wrinkles appear from frowning or squinting from forgetting our glasses.

To help with these, take your pointer fingers and make them into hooks.

Then, using medium pressure, push the loose skin across your eyebrows to your temples with your “hooks.” Repeat this five times.
